Apparently I am not blogging enough according to Tim and should write about every random minute detail of my life.

Today I woke up after sleeping until almost 11:00AM. Then went to eat lunch with Corrie before going to work from 1:30 to 10:00. I was $4.89 short on my drawer and found out at $5.00 or more they write you up. Considering I sold almost $2,000 worth of stuff this seems minute.
I'm finally almost over being sick.
I still haven't seen Emma since she's been home. Kind of sad, I guess she's just busy since she just got home.
Oh San Diego is so much better than here. I miss my friends.
I've been talking to this guy online and we've been talking alot lately. He seems really nice and we get along so well. In fact I think I might go meet up with him soon.
Ok the end.

YESSSS

I love coming home from work and knowing that I have 3 WHOLE DAYS in a row off!! Woohoo!

Clogged

I hate being sick. And I'm not even that sick, I'm just a baby. I'm kind of clogged all over, runny nose, fuzzy head, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. So I'm tired.
And then my mom just asked me if I was mad at them (meaning the family) because apparently I am acting "short" with her. I hate when she gets these ideas because no matter what I say she won't believe me. No, I am just tired and clogged and sore from sunburned back and my ear is throbbing from being pierced. Ok, gotta go blow my nose and put on more aloe vera.

Hanging Out With Dana Day

Yesterday I went to the beach with my friend Dana. Her friend Wendy joined us and then Sophia came too. It was so much fun. Even though we were just laying out I was having a blast hanging out with these girls. Then Dana, Sophia and I went shopping at Cerritos mall where Dana and I got our ears pierced. Dana was hesitant at first, but after I did mine Sophia and I talked her into it. I think it helped that I didn't lie to her, it really did hurt when it the lady first pierced it, but after a few minutes it wasn't that bad. After laying out we were kind of tired so we got soda's for a pick me up, and I proceeded to drop mine right in front of the stand, oops.
After all the fun shopping Sophia left and Dana and I went to the park and just messed around and took dorky pictures until her friend Susan was ready to go get dinner.

Dana has more pics on her camera.
We went to visit their friend at Hot Dog on A Stick, but she was kind of busy and not having the best day so we bought food elsewhere.
So then we headed over to Dana's house to watch a couple of cheesy episodes of Beverly Hills 90210.
And that was the end of the day, good times. I'm glad I'm getting the chance to hang out with Dana so much, she's a great friend. :)

Random

I saw a girl Andria who I had a class with last year and who lived on the same dorm floor as me at Petsmart today. Had a nice little chat with her.

Had a lady complain to me because a mug was put in the wrong spot and instead of 10 cents it was 25 cents.

Am going to the beach tomorrow and then shopping with my friend Dana and hopefully Emma.

Went to some guy friends baseball game last night with Corrie and then ate dinner and had some really good conversation with our friend Tony V.

Been thinking lately that I really want a new car. Right now I'm liking the Toyota Echo because it's cute and I feel like it suits me, Toyota's are pretty dependable, and it's not too expensive. Not sure if I want to start having a car payment though. But the bottom of the line '91 Camry is just not the car for me anymore. Besides the fact that it is starting to have minor problems all over the place. We'll see if I can save at least a little more before summer is over to make a decent down payment.

Had one manager ask me when I was leaving work because apparently she didn't yet know. And then didn't understand that I couldn't keep working there when I was going to school.

Had another manager ask me when I was leaving also, apparently there's communication problems here. I've never once tried to hide the fact that this can only be a summer job for me.

Then had that same manager tell me my drawer was off by $40 dollars yesterday. I thought for sure I was going to be fired until he told me that he found the money in another drawer. Still don't know how that happened.

Jananas

Last night Katie Corrie and I got together for a little "dinner party" and sleep over. We picked one letter, J, and had to go buy only food that started with a J to make dinner with! I think the funnest part was shopping for the food! We ended up making Jambalaya with Aunt Jemima's sausage. Jumbo Romaine lettuce for a salad with Jicama, Jack cheese, and Just 2 Good dressing. We also had Jello, which we didn't end up eating, and Ben and Jerry's ice cream for desert! We snacked on cheddar Jack Cheez-it's and Juicy fruit gum. While cooking we listened to Jazz, and then afterwards watched a movie with John Cusack in it.
Hehe, this is starting to sound like one of those games where you fill in the blanks and then read the story afterwards.
Oh yes, and while walking down the grocery store aisles we kept saying things like too bad they're not "Jananas", and other stuff I can't remember.
Good fun girls night!

Hair

So I finally got my hair cut and colored. The last time I had it professionally done was in the beginning of January! Man. Anyway, good stuff. I like it cause it's short and kind of fun for the summer. I took a picture of it because tomorrow when I try to style it myself it definitely won't look the same!! :)

Customers

One thing to keep in mind when you are upset about something in a store is to think about who you should really be complaining to. For example the cashier at the front of the store probably has nothing to do with the problem that was encountered. However since these are the people that the customer encounters, the people at the bottom of the food chain are the ones who get complained to.
So I really do like working with people, but it always dampers my mood a little when someone gets upset with me over something, especially when it isn't my fault.
Today I had a man hang up after he had been on hold for probably no more than 2 minutes because the stocker who was supposed to answer the phone was in the middle of helping a customer and wasn't able to answer right away. He called back and when I answered the phone, in the middle of helping other customers, he proceeded to yell at me for a couple of minutes about how ridiculous it was that he had to be on hold and he didn't understand why there wasn't anyone to talk to right away. I tried to get him to talk to a manager (the ones who are supposed to deal with these problems). But nope he just kept yelling as I tried to pleasantly proceed with other people's transactions. Ugh. Eventually I was able to transfer him when he calmed down a little.
Another man came in with a collar that he believed wasn't working properly. That's fine, he's allowed to return it except he doesn't have a receipt. Well our return policy allows this he just gets store credit. But of course he doesn't want the credit he wants his money back, which I can't do. Remember, I don't make the rules, I just have to follow them. So after getting a manager to come over and explain the exact same thing as I told him he finally took his credit while grumbling.
Because there is a vet hospital in our store we have some prescription foods. In order to purchase the foods you obviously have to have a prescription card. Well a lady wanted to purchase prescription food for her dog and didn't have her card. The computer won't let me even proceed with the transaction unless I punch in the correct numbers from the card. Anyway, you get the picture. More being upset and telling me how this was ridiculous and the dog needed the food. Of course the vet has already gone home for the day. Meanwhile I can't give her the food.
And this was just today.
I know you guys don't need it, but maybe there was a moral in this story somewhere? Like next time you get upset with something in a store, think about who you should be upset with and who you should really be complaining to, like a manager. Because most likely the people you interact with, unless you personally see them making a mistake, had nothing to do with, nor can they fix the problem.

Yah! I'm so excited!

My friend and future roomie Cerise is going to come visit me after she gets off work tomorrow!! I haven't seen her since summer started! Although I have talked to her almost every day, haha. I have no idea what we're going to do yet! But I know we'll have a blast just hanging out. At school we really didn't go out much cause we were poor, but we would just hang out and watch movies and bake cakes and stuff. Anyone have any suggestions of fun things we can do that don't cost too much? hehe. Well whatever we do we'll have fun! I'm so excited!! Of course now I really do have to clean my room... and the entire house for that matter! But that's ok... it's worth it!

At What Point?

For those of you who have been reading my blog for at least a few months you've probably read at least a couple of posts of my frustrations with my parents.
However, I think now our relationship has finally matured. I can tell that they see me as an adult, and let me act that way. I no longer dread calling home to tell them I won't be home tonight cause I'm staying at a friends house, or going out many nights in a row because I'm afraid they'll be upset I'm not there enough, or asking their permission to do things, or just worrying about being home at a certain time.
Anyway I don't really need to elaborate. Just wanted to say that it's nice. I had been kind of worried about this summer, me changing and them not accepting it. But all in all so far so good. I'm really enjoying not feeling bitter towards them and getting a chance to enjoy the company of friends when I want it or need it. And at the same time enjoy my family's company when I want it or need it as well.

Music

I tend to listen to alot of different kinds of music. Some of it's already popular and some of it some of you have probably never heard of. So I just thought I'd share a sampling of it with my friends because you should be listening to this good stuff too! Enjoy! Oh yeah, P.S. you have to click on the link and then click on the CD cover when you get to the page... it'll make sense when you get there :)

Ben Folds Five

Death Cab For Cutie

Eisley

Keane

Motion City Soundtrack

Pinback

Plain White T's I only like one song, "Hey There Delilah", so just listen to that one :)

Snow Patrol

Something Like Silas This is the worship band that plays at the Flood

Augustana - Stars and Boulevards

That was just a small sampling for ya :)
Ok, so if you're looking for some new good music you should listen to some of these artists... really!

Spit

As some of you might know I have a slight problem with spit. Well maybe not really a slight problem, but you know.
Meaning there is a reason that I am a cat person. They are clean and non smelly and don't lick and slobber all over the place. But at Petsmart people bring their dogs in all the time, and we are supposed to be friendly to them and give them treats if it's ok with their owner. I don't mind the little dogs so much, but the big ones are just full of waaay too much saliva. When I give them a treat and they slobber all over my hand it's all I can do to keep from visibly cringing. And then it's not like I can go wash my hand off right away.
Ewwwww
For example 2 days ago I gave a full grown Saint Bernard (saliva machines) a treat and he took a while to get it, soaking my hand. He dropped it and smeared at least a foot long streak of more saliva on the ground!! Honestly I would rather clean up pee than spit.
Just thought I'd share with you how spit is the grossest thing in the world to me. :P

Been Busy

Not much too exciting going on lately. Went to see Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and Star Wars Episode III. Been working. Hung out with my friend Dana and got free Hotdog on a Stick from her friend who works there. And also watched some of Season 1 of the O.C. and almost got our ears pierced. Went to Jeannie Kleker's college graduation party. Yah for Jeannie! Did some hanging out with Corrie, watched a movie last night with her, her brother Jeremy, and our friend Katie, that I slept through part of.
And in between all of that I've been working, alot. And I really like my job, which is good since I'm working so much. The only part I don't like is the fact that I'm closing almost every night, meaning less time for hanging out and seeing my family.
Wednesday I have a day off so I'm driving up to UCLA and Emma and I are going to go out to lunch. Will be fun.
Good stuff, night all.

I don't like being new

I was getting a little discouraged today after I kept messing up, or not knowing how to do things.
For instance hanging up on people because I wasn't doing the hold thing properly, not taking the metal detectors off items so people beeped on their way out, doing returns wrong, not being loud enough on the page system.
But you know what? By the end of the night I was feeling much more comfortable and feeling like I was starting to get the hang of things a little bit more. So now feeling less discouraged. And everyone at my job is really nice about helping out and explaining things and trying to make me not feel so dumb.
So all in all not too bad.
I really need to get used to standing on my feet for 8 hours though. Boy, I'm tired, and I have four more 8 hour shifts next week! Welcome to the real world Laura.

How in the heck

Did I manage to accumulate so many clothes?? I think because I am a pack rat. Or because my weight fluctuates so much so I have many clothes of different sizes. Anyway that was the first part of my cleaning and organizing my room. It's a total disaster area that has spewed out into the front room and garage also. I think I got rid of over half of my clothes. 3 huge trash bags full and 2 stuffed old navy bags.
Meaning tomorrow = trip to the goodwill! Of course now I still have to put away all of the clothes that I kept... And go through everything else I still have! Clothes were just a small part. Good thing I don't work again til Sunday! Nice big project ahead of me.
