New Kitchen

I went home this past weekend to visit with my grandparents who were in town. The reason they were here was so that my grandpa could help my dad tile our kitchen floor. For the past couple of months my parents have been in the process of completely redoing the kitchen. New cabinets, floors, appliances, the works.
It was neat to see it all starting to come together.

Friday night I went to this place in little italy called Sogno Divino for Katie Drake's birthday. It was a really cool drinks and appetizers place with a good atmosphere for what it was.

I'm going home again on Thursday and my family is taking a little vacation on a cruise over the weekend! Should be fun, I'm excited!

Festering

The blisters are growing and getting more gross and painful!
I'm going home tomorrow because my grandparents are in town...
I really don't want people to see my sunburn! It's pretty disgusting.

Sea World

My church had a family day at Sea World yesterday. Since I have a pass I thought it would be fun to go :) My friend Amy and I decided we would be each other's "family" since our families aren't here!
I had tons of fun. Amy and I stayed for a long time after the rest of the church people left and just hung out and were dorks. Good times though.
Minus the fact that I got absolutely FRIED. Yes, no sunscreen, so it's my fault. My shoulders started to blister up today though, it's quite disgusting really.

Me and Amy pretending to be gangsta, and my hardcore sunburn.

Tuesday Night Tacos

A new tradition? Possibly. I went with some friends last night to this place called Fred's in Old Town where they have $2 tacos and margaritas (although Laura can only get the tacos). But it was very fun and I think it might need to be a new tradition!

Red Flags

I have begun the apartment / room searching once again, since I have about 3 weeks before I need to move.
I've mainly been looking at craigslist.com and there are definitely a few red flags in the postings that I've been noticing.
- "single male looking for attractive female room mate"... seriously?
- "beer pong table in the back, must be 420 friendly"
- "$1250 deposit" (for a $550 a month room??)

I'll add in more red flags later as the apt. hunting continues!

Getting More Involved

I've started doing a little more while working with the kids on Sundays at church. Instead of just leading a group of kids around to classes yesterday I actually taught one of the classes. Of course it was an easier one... watch a cheesy video and then talk about it and ask questions. But still. And then after the classes I led the kids in singing since my friend Amy, who is the intern, is having major back problems and couldn't really be up there jumping and bouncing around.
Anyway, it's been fun working with kids again... and I think I'm going to start helping out Wednesday nights as well. :)

Concert

My sister and I went to see Taking Back Sunday, Angels and Airwaves, Head Automatica, and The Subways last night. It was definitely an awesome concert!
All of the bands were awesome. I was a little disappointed in Angels and Airwaves... I think just because they sounded almost exactly like the CD and there wasn't too much that seemed "special" about getting to see them live. I was getting really into The Subways. I'd never heard of this band before but they were awesome! They have 2 lead singers, a guy and a girl, and just had an awesome sound and stage presence, I'm definitely going to look more into their music!
Emily and I got pretty close to the front where we had the lovely smells of B.O (almost everyone was soaked through with sweat), cigarette smoke, weed, and the ocean. The venue was outside on the bay which was nice to keep some of the heat down with so many people smashed against each other.
I just found out Death Cab For Cutie is playing at the same place on August 15 and I REALLY want to go if I can find someone to go with me!

Being Productive

Is it weird to enjoy running errands (question mark cause this computer doens't have it appparently). Or to enjoy having a large "to do" list (question mark).
For some reason I love having a lot of things to do. I don't like just sitting around doing nothing, unless I've already been productive all day.
I have a big huge to do list for my day off tomorrow and I'm excited to get stuff done on the list!
Maybe I'm just weird.

Where Do I Live Again?

I haven't been home since Sunday afternoon and won't go back home until at least 9:00 or so tonight.
This week is really busy between work and school. The freshman orientations at SDSU started yesterday. At least 9,000 new students attend orientations for the next 2 weeks. Then for a week after that the transfer students have their orientations.
It's also my last week of class, which is nice but busy. Yesterday I had to give an oral presentation. Today we have to write an in class resume without any notes or templates or anything (who does that?). And tomorrow is the final.
Cerise and my new addiction is sushi. There's a really good not too expensive place right by school that we've been frequenting quite often lately. (For those of you who remember that Cerise is a vegetarian, she gets avacodo and cucumber rolls.) Yum!

While I have internet...

I figured out I can "borrow" internet when I stand in the corner of my room in between the closet and my desk. Every once and a while I can actually sit at the desk and it works.
I got my hair cut and highlighted yesterday. It feels so good to have it shorter! It was getting pretty long... I would show a pic if my camera wasn't broken.
I went to hang out with some friends from work yesterday at my friend Chris's (since he's the one with the pool). Did I mention I love summer?
My mom and sister are driving down in a little bit to swap cars with me. Depending on how long they stay I might go to a "dress like a rockstar" party tonight. That could be pretty entertaining.
Tomorrow we're having a pool / bbq thing after church with the college group. Should be fun!

No Offense

If you haven't written in your blog in 2 months or more, then I took you off of my list of "Blogs I Read". That list is getting pretty short!

Bowling and Stuff

Last night I went bowling with our College Group at church. I had a good time even though I stink at bowling. It was just fun hanging out with some friends and getting to know some more.
I'm helping out at church with the kids Summer Sundays program. Yesterday was the first day and it lasts for 5 Sundays. I have a pretty easy job, just leading a group of kids around from one class to the next. Kind of reminds me a little of being a counselor at day camp, minus the stress. It's been awhile since I've really worked with kids. I had fun getting to act totally dorky with them.
I have migrated from the Library to Starbucks at school to use the internet to write my paper. For awhile I was able to "borrow" someone's wireless who didn't have a password. But for some reason that connection went away. So I have been spending many hours at the library. I'll come back tonight after class and be here until who knows how late. Last night it was midnight. Since the paper is due tomorrow night I'm guessing it will be at least 3am or so. And then tomorrow night and Wednesday I have to prepare an oral presentation on a completely different topic that will be presented Wednesday night!
Basically I won't be sleeping until Wednesday night. Actually I take that back because we are finally celebrating Cerise's birthday that night with a few friends. So... lets see... I'll sleep Friday :(
My transmission has to be rebuilt and is $2100. My car seriously better run amazingly well after all of this.

I Keep Breaking Things!

Or things keep breaking around me, either way...

My car is broken,
Ipod decided to die,
Fishy died,
A pair of sunglasses broke,
One of my necklaces broke,
And a key on my computer fell off.

Watch out people! I think I might be dangerous!

Transmissions... Who Needs Them?

On Thursday my car decided that it didn't feel like shifting correctly anymore. It would either rev really fast when I was going about 40mph and not shift up, or not shift down when I stopped.
I took it to a transmission place today to learn that unfortunately it's not a minor problem. Of course it's not, I mean I don't get that lucky. They have to completely take the transmission apart to see what's wrong with it ($645 in labor... which goes away if they fix it and they just charge the at least $1350 to rebuild or replace it).
This is the point where you ask, is it even worth it? The car is 16 years old. Is it time to just replace it? The problem is that right now there isn't enough money to buy a better car. So yes, we fix it.
It's frustrating because it's such a huge unexpected cost. My parents are paying for it, which definitely helps because I couldn't afford it. But that amount is almost a semester's worth of tuition for me. It's not like there is just a random extra $1300 lying around to be spent on something like this.
I am getting so frustrated with this car.

Summer is already half over!

I have a 2500 word business report due on Tuesday for my summer school class. And pretty much no time to work on it. Yah.
July 4th was fun. Emily and I went to Sea World towards the end of the day to watch a few shows, go on a few rides, and then see the fireworks. I had a really nice time just hanging out with Emily in general. That's probably one of the biggest things that I regret about not living at home anymore. Regret is too harsh of a word. But I miss being here for her high school years and spending time with her and growing closer as "adults". Her 17th Birthday is tomorrow. Yikes! I got her tickets to come see Taking Back Sunday and Angels and Airwaves in San Diego in a couple of weeks. So I can steal her for another weekend ;)
Yesterday we went to Ikea. I love that place. Emily and I found a small yellow table in the "As Is" section for only $3.50. It looks like it was their display model. We decided to make it our project and are decorating it to match her room. A fun little project, I'll post some pictures when it's done, if it turns out ok that is ;)

Been Busy

Haven't had too much time to write lately. The family came to visit or a couple of days. Emily is still here with me until Wednesday night when I'm going to drive home for her birthday and such.
I'm getting really good at parallel parking, since that's the only way to park around here.
Off to the pool for now. Then Emily and I are going to Sea World tonight for the fireworks and a few other random things. Cool beans.
